Annual Report 21-22
The shock of the COVID-19 crisis on education has been unprecedented. It has set the clock back on the attainment of national education goals, and disproportionately affected the poor and most vulnerable. The COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems in history, affecting nearly 1.6 billion learners.
But on the other hand, this crisis has stimulated innovation within the education sector. We have seen innovative approaches in support of education and training continuity. These significant changes have also highlighted that there is promising future of learning with new and accelerated changes in modes of delivering quality education. We all the stake holders of education sector are fighting “build back resilient” system which will reach all learners and ensure all irrespective any discrimination receive quality and full-term education. The teaching community proved again that they are resilient and laying groundwork for the rebound.
Academic Year 2021-22 was year for going back to normal. Our management, principal, faculty and non-teaching staff put hard efforts to provide excellent learning environment for the learner.
Strength of our college – The college had total strength of 508 students out of which 334 were boys and 174 were girls. We at this institution try to fulfil to the need of deprived section of society. Maximum of our students are working to support their family so they do not get opportunity to study in day time. Our college take all care to provide them an environment which is not only favourable for them to study, but also organise and conduct several activities for overall development of their personalities.
Here is the brief gist of the activities conducted by our college during the academic year 2021-22:
Student’s Council – Students Council was formed as per the norms of University of Mumbai and Master Vishal Swami was nominated as General Secretary of Student’s Council in our college. This academic year we moved to normal mode of teaching – learning and it was action-packed year for all of us. Our student’s council supported us in conducting all activities in college by taking charge of arranging the event and extending helping hands to staff. Its only because of their endless support we could manage many activities in short span of time.
Extension Services – The motto of education is to build a human being who is empathetic to the poor, environment and society. They should not just take degrees but also take home some values and ethics. For this objective we have strong foundation of extension activities in the form of NSS, NCC & DLLE. Extension activities provide plinth to the students to develop skills like leadership, group coordination, personal control, discipline, public speaking, etc. These activities also develop empathy and values for society and its need in every form.
1. A) NSS – Like every year this year also our NSS Unit got full enrolment of 150 students. College NSS Unit remained active throughout the academic year in all the activities including college level and university level.
Main highlights of the activities are as under:
Session on Digital wellbeing and Covid-19 – Our college along with Rotract Club organised a session in online mode for creating awareness among mass regarding impact digital divices on health and how to manage the same.
Celebration of International Yoga Day – Covid -19 has taught us lesson to us that boosting our immunity is must. For that regular practicing of yoga can go long way in developing healthy body and mind to fight with any dread disease like Covid -19. Interantinaol yoga day session was directed towards that core idea in our college.
Tree Plantation Drive – Our College is very strongly believe that increasing a green covering can start from our own backyard. So in order to encouraged our students for tree plantation NSS unit of our college organised a tree plantation drive. It motivated the students to plant sapling in plastic bottle to encourage dual motto of reuse plastic and prepare green cover.
Session on Drug Abuse by IRS Sameer Wankhede – This was very useful session for youth where crusader to anti-drug movement for safe youth. Mr. Sameer directly interacted with our students to enlighten about harmful impact of drugs.
DLLE – As another extension wing our college DLLE has also been playing very crucial role in developing social empathy among students. This year DLLE had an impressive enrolment of 70 students. As we have slum around we chose Status of Women Survey as our project. This project gave students actual insight into life of women in the lower strata of society.
WDC – in spite of being a night college we have good number of girl students in our college. Our college has taken special efforts to make these female safe. Apart from taking care of their security and safety our WDC conducts activities for their growth and development. WDC of our college work tirelessly to ensure safe environment to our girl students. WDC conducted various activities for the female students such as:
1. Certificate Course on “Smart Girls” – WDC of our college organized six days certificare course to train girls how to handle stress and relationship in life. We invited Ms. Atheya from Bharatiya Jain Sangathana to train our girls.
Workshop on “Women at Cross Road – Futuristic Path for Empowerment” – Special workshop was organised by our WDC by inviting Dr. Sangeeta Pawar and Dr. Daywata Patil for our students. Both the resource persons threw a lot of light on the current issues of working women. They added that we do not have happy picture of working women. They also highlighted major problem areas and the need to change them.
Celebration of international Women’s Day – WDC very enthusiastically celebrated International Women’s Day. This year our students recited poems and presented speech on the occasion to mark the event.
Student’s Welfare – This year our Student’s Welfare Committee has been very activite. It organised few certificate courses for students such as Certificate course in Yoga, Session on Health and Nutrient, Session on General Counselling for students. It also conducted five days Student Development Program for students on “Investor Awareness program”.
Maitri Sangh – This year Maitri Sangh organized orientation session on various schemes of Freeship and Scholarship available for the students. Maitri Sangh also helped our students to avail University of Mumbai’s Book Bank Facility and total 10 students got the same.
Scholarship and Freeship – This Year 01 student of our college got Government of Maharashtra’s Scholarship.
Creative Nature Club – We strongly believe that we need mother earth for our survival but mother earth does not need us. Our nature club whole heartedly strive to create sense of belongingness with nature among our student. This year we arranged session on preserving bio-diversity and took our students for nature trial to Borivali National Park.
Literary Association – Literary association of our college celebrated Hindi Pakhwara to create awareness among students about their national language. It also conducted patriotic Poetry and Song Recitation Competition on the eve of Independence Day. It also conducted Easy Writing Competition on “Teachers and their role in life”.
Library Committee – Library committee this year conducted online Quiz Competition on the occasion of birth Anniversary Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam which is celebrated as “Vachan Prerana Divas”. Library Committee also conducted online training session for students and staff members on how to use N-list. It also organised Quiz Competition on life of S. R. Ranganathan who is called as Guru of Library.
Placement Cell – As we all have develop a strong culture for conducting our activities which are centred around upgrading and updating students about job’s requirements through our placement cell. This year was not an exception, Placement Cell conducted various activities including session on Career Guidance, Career Mela with AIF, session on “How to choose Career after graduation”, etc. It also conducted six days certificate course by Mr. Tushar Agarwal on Personality Development of Students.
Placement cell conducted a placement drive for our students wherein total 05 students were finally selected for job by CA Firm.
Departmental Activities
Department of Commence – It conducted activities such as session on Share Market, session on Financial Literacy, Article Writing Competition on “Charpati Shivaji Maharaj As a Brave Warrior”, etc.
Department of Accountancy – This department conducted skill oriented workshop, seminar for our students which includes ICICI Skill development program, Career Guidance Session by Nehru Yuva Kendra as well as investor awareness program.
Department of Economics – Department of Economics conducted certain relevant and meaningful activities for our students such as “Discussion session on Gandhian Thoughts on Economy” and Discussion session on “Sri Lankan Crisis”. It also encouraged students to prepare video on “Economics in Day to Day Life”.
IQAC – IQAC of our college has taken earnest exertions to improve the quality of education by conducting Gender Audit, Green Audit, Water Audit, Energy Audit and Library Audit this year. Apart from this it organised six days FDP on “Trends in Banking and Insurance” for the faculties all around India. It also organised six days Certificate Course on “Human Values and Laws”.
Overall academic year 2021-2022 was very eventful year and together we succeeded in giving best to our students after unlocking.
