Annual Report

Hind Seva Parishad Public Night Degree College was established in 1998 with an objective to provide quality higher education to young mind in local area. The logo of our college is motto “तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय।“ which means that education enlightens; it empowers. It teaches to distinguish right from wrong. It teaches to care for others and the environment. It teaches to be a good citizen. In short, it prepares young minds for life. The quest of knowledge is the key to move on the path of truth and light. And knowledge itself is the result of education. Public night Degree College aims to empower our students with holistic education by trusting on moral values, integrity and scientific approach among our students.

Academic Year 2022-23 was full of enriching activities carried throughout the year apart from regular teaching learning process for overall development of our students. This annual report summarize entire year.

Strength of our college – The college had total strength of 526 students out of which 320 were boys and 206 were girls. Mostly our students ate bread earner for their family so we take their utmost care.

Here is the brief gist of the activities conducted by our college during the academic year 2022-23:

Student’s Council – Student’s Council was formed as per the norms of University of Mumbai and Master Kashi Mankoji was nominated as General Secretary of Student’s Council in our college. Like every year this year too our Student’s Council Members helped us to conduct activities with efficacy.

Extension Services – As stated earlier our intuition strongly believe in developing such human being who are sensitive towards social and environmental needs. To develop such compassion among students we have our extension wing working tirelessly in this direction.

For this objective, we have strong foundation of extension activities in the form of NSS, NCC & DLLE.  Extension activities provide platform not only to understand social issues but also develop several soft skills which enhance their personality.

  1. A) NSS – Like every year this year also our NSS Unit got full enrolment of 150 students. College NSS Unit remained active throughout the academic year in all the activities including college level and university level.

Main highlights of the activities are as under:

Celebration of International Yoga Day –   Every year our college organizes Yoga session to mark “International Yoga Day“. This academic year too it was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The session was very useful for students and staff, as they learnt yoga technique to boost their fitness.

Tree Plantation Drive – Every year our college conducts a drive to plant tree in our campus to improve its green space. Like every year this year too our college students enthusiastically participated in tree plantation drive and pledged to take care of trees with in the campus.

Session on HIV/ AIDS – This session was conducted by inviting Ms. Chaitali Bhoir as a resource person. The session was very informative and gave students valuable information on various aspects of HIV and AIDS. She also discussed stigma associated with disease in society. In her address, madam also encouraged students to stay active fighting this disease.

DLLE – As another extension wing our college DLLE has also been playing very crucial role in developing social empathy among students. This year DLLE had an impressive enrolment of 70 students. As our college is surrounded by slum, we chose “Status of Women Survey” as our project. This project gave students actual insight into life of women in the lower strata of society.

WDC – Our college has strong Women Development Cell (WDC) to look after the interest of female students and staff. WDC take active interest in promoting welfare of female students and staff as well as it organizes sessions, workshops, etc. to impart useful knowledge to our female students.

WDC conducted various activities for the female students such as:

Certificate Course on “Smart Girls” – WDC of our college organized six days certificate course on “Smart Girls” to train girls how to handle stress and relationship in life. We invited Dr. Rajni Titia from Bharatiya Jain Sangathana to train our girls.

Workshop on “Menstrual Hygiene” – Ms. Karishma from P&G conducted a workshop on menstrual hygiene management in our college. The workshop highlighted the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and demonstrated various ways of best health practices for women to follow.

 

Celebration of International Women’s Day – WDC very enthusiastically celebrated International Women’s Day. This year our students recited poems and presented speech on the occasion to mark the event.

Student’s Welfare Committee – Students Welfare Committee this year conducted major activity of Personality Development Workshop for students. It also conducted a session on “Bahgvad Geeta” for spiritual health of students.

Maitri Sangh – This year Maitri Sangh organized orientation session on various schemes of Freeship and Scholarship available for the students. Maitri Sangh also helped our students to avail University of Mumbai’s Book Bank Facility and total 10 students got the same.

Scholarship and Freeship – This Year 01 student of our college got Government of Maharashtra’s Scholarship. 

Creative Nature Club –   Preserving and protecting natural environment has always been top priority of our college, because of that we have very active Nature Club. This year we signed MOU with United way to be active part in their environmental conservation program.

Literary Association – Literary association this year celebrated “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” with week-long activities that included essay writing, debate, slogan writing and patriotic singing. All programme were directed to develop patriotic feeling in students.

Library Committee – Library committee remained active and conducted various activities like Book Exhibition, Poetry Writing and Recitation Competition jointly with Patuck Gala College, Celebration of Reader Motivation Day on occasion of Birth Anniversary of Dr. Abdul Kalam, etc.

Placement Cell –   Our College always try to put more thrust on conducting activities which improve the employability skill of students. Placement cell conducted session on “Digital Marketing” to train students on marketing. It also organised online session on “How to prepare for Competitive Exams”

Apart from that to update students on skill required in various fields, sessions were organised which included Career Planning by Mr. Abhishek Shukla of DVOC Institute for Undergraduate students, NIIT placement program and Career opportunities in Aviation Sector by Amigo Academy

Departmental Activities

Department of Commence – Department of Commerce conducted many activities such as Session on “Preparation for CET ATMA” seminar on Mutual Fund, and session on Marketing and Management by Dr. Nitin Agarwal. The department also conducted workshop on “Working of Capital Market” as well as it also organised a visit to BSE and RBI.

Department of Accountancy – This department conducted thirty hours certificate course for students to make them understand basic of accountancy subject. The department also conducted a session on: “Budget Analysis”.

Department of Economics – Department of Economics conducted certain relevant and meaningful activities for our students such as “Group Discussion on Need of Green Growth”.

IQAC IQAC of our college has taken earnest exertions to improve the quality of education by conducting Gender Academic Audit, Audit, Green Audit, Water Audit, Energy Audit and Library Audit this year. Apart from this it organised National conference with support of RBI and NBARD.

Overall academic year 2022-2023 was very eventful year and together we succeeded in giving best to our students after unlocking.
